This is a new open-collar shirt made from a mixed-weave broadcloth fabric, with thick cotton yarn for the warp and fine rayon yarn for the weft.
The mixed-weave broadcloth fabric, which has a slightly heavier feel than 100% cotton, ensures that the shirt doesn't feel too light when worn. When combined with the open-collar detail, which often evokes a strong spring/summer image, it creates a seasonless balance.
The color is also distinctive; since cotton absorbs dye more deeply than rayon, the navy has a profound, eggplant-like depth and develops a rich patina over time.
The embroidery features "Beautiful Soul" expressed in Arabic.
Inspired by American vintage styles, the open collar is designed with a slight forward slope to suit the Japanese physique, creating a more elegant impression when worn.
The shirt combines high quality and a refined mood, with cuffs featuring a "ittekoi" (reversible) design without a placket, side pleats on the back yoke, meticulous flat-felled seams and a three-roll hem, all expertly tailored at a shirt factory in Tokyo.
The buttons used for the navy shirt were garment-dyed to give them depth and a natural blend, and the embroidery uses covering thread that won't bleed onto the fabric no matter how many times it's washed.
By controlling the thread tension with a special embroidery machine, the Arabic design is further abstracted.
