BUZIGAHILL
Based in Kampala, Uganda's capital, this apparel brand is a hub of art, fashion, and activism. Its first project, called RETURN TO SENDER, redesigns secondhand clothing. Used clothing accounts for 80% of all clothing purchased domestically in Uganda, hindering the revival of the local textile industry. Buzigahiru redesigns these garments, creating unique, one-of-a-kind pieces that are then sent back to the Global North where they were originally made. Additionally, the brand collaborates with Ugandan visual artists, designers, secondhand market vendors, and artisan workshops to add value to the local supply chain and foster a strong creative industry.
