BUZIGAHILL
An apparel brand by designer Bobby Kolade.
Based in Kampala, the capital of Uganda, the brand operates at the intersection of art, fashion, and activism. In its first project series, called RETURN TO SENDER, the brand re-designs second-hand clothing. In Uganda, second-hand clothes account for 80% of all clothing purchased domestically, hindering the revival of the local textile industry. BUZIGAHILL takes these second-hand clothes, re-designs them into unique products, and sends them back to the Global North, where they were originally made. Furthermore, by collaborating with Ugandan visual artists, designers, second-hand market vendors, and artisan workshops, the brand adds value to the local supply chain and fosters a strong creative industry.
