This item is dyed using persimmon tannins, a method that symbolizes this season.
Persimmon tannin dyeing is done using the juice of harvested persimmons that has been aged for over three years, while Kurezome is a dyeing technique in which the persimmon tannin dye is mordant-treated with water containing iron to turn it black.
Tannins have deodorizing and anti-odor effects, as well as improving durability and waterproofing.
Because it is hand-dyed, each piece has a unique look.
